The “Winston” desk by Les Ateliers Vau Fontaine never leaves anyone indifferent. Its size, its shape, the quality of its execution and a few small details make it an exceptional piece for large spaces. On the top, inlaid lines of elm underline the crossing of the two large tops, with edges bevelled at 25°.
Beneath the top, a flush drawer in walnut and elm with dovetail joints and, next to it, a small secret compartment, completely invisible and opened by a push mechanism, like those found in Louis XVI secretaires. A signature of the master cabinetmakers of the time, in which the aristocracy concealed letters and compromising documents! Traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery with acacia pegs. All designed and made to last for centuries.
